The permanent wood foundation is constructed of load-bearing walls built with pressure-treated lumber and sheathed with pressure-treated plywood.  PWF can be constructed as a full basement, split entry or crawl space. CSA S406 provides requirements for constructing preserved wood foundations (PWF) in buildings up to 3-storeys and not more than 600 m².
